Embellished to show your end
You stand without a tree abode
What do you require now?
Your faithful one kneels before you
Cold-hearted goddess that you are
In the days of our forefathers
You took from us countless virgins
To sate your wicked appetite
And leave us impoverished
A disgraced people
When we think of you
Our hearts burn with cold fire
For all the talents you stole
For all the souls that went to the
Grave full of youth
Whom you robbed of the
Freedom to give their all
We spit our abomination on your altar
We despise you
We pilfer from your faithful one
You are no goddess of ours
Where were you when we pleaded clemency?
With empty stomachs
Dumb and bloated from gorging our sacrifices
You refused us help
Where were you when
The king lay ailing, dying, drawing
His last breath from a poisoned arrow
Like a selfish infant
You ate our tears and turned deaf ears
Today the cold blade of
Our hatred rests at the throat of
Your faithful one
His blood our vendetta
Save him now if you can
Or else his blood flows
Like Nwobu* shielded by the
Bulrushes and your head on
A platter of clay as befits you
Princess of the earth.
*Nwobu is a very shaded little brook that runs near my house in the countryside, sometimes impossible to pass due to the many bushes that surround it.
