Nigerian idol, the musical reality show sponsored by the leading telecommunications company Etisalat Nigeria recently played host to one of Nigeria`s leading music producers Samklef, who came on the show as a guest Judge. The show, which is currently in the second week of elimination is going to see the top thirty contestants withered down to the ten.
This week another ten contestants came before the judges to sing their hearts out as they vied for a spot in the next stage of the competition and ultimately, the title of Nigerian idol. Speaking at the event, the manager, youth segment for Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Idiare Atimomo, said, “The level of competition is getting better as the contestants appear to be stepping up their game in their performances.”
He added that Etisalat is committed to giving Nigerian youths an avenue to realize their dreams and aspirations. He said that music is just one of the avenues by which the organization is reaching out to the youths. He said, “Etisalat also reaches out to youths through their scholarship program as well as their cliqfest campus activation.”
When asked about his take on the contestants, Samklef said that he was impressed by the level of talent that he encountered at the show. He said, “These young guys have what it takes to make it in the industry if they are consistent and keep their game up.” He however said that the contestants should not be discouraged if they do not make it through as there is a bright future awaiting them in spite of the outcome.
By the end of the week the results of the voting will be compiled by the auditing firm Alexander Forbes and the contestants will know their fate. The next ten set of contestants will also get to show what they are made of before the judges before the final selection is made.
