Ardent fans of Kelis’ ‘Flesh Tone’ and head-bumpers whenever the disc jockey plays a Calvin Harris record should buckle up as international pop act D’Banj is a launching a solar plexus with his “Oliver Twist (Remixes) – EP”. ‘The Entertainer’ seeks to break boundaries, experiment with strange genres and sail on uncharted waters with the 5-track EP featuring 4 remixes and the original ‘Oliver Twist’ which surfaced sometime last year.
Preceding the authentic track is the ‘Zed Bias Bounce Remix’ which incorporates pre-dominant kicks and synths and the MTV Award Winner layering his vocal on the bum-shaking melody. Sneakbo lends Dapo a helping hand on the third track and second remix; the ‘Sneakbo Remix’ features an engaging rap-verse from ‘Sneak to the Bo’ on the rich Don Jazzy production and it is as hot as the original.
Mr. Endowed grabs the bull by the balls as he rides on a ‘David Guetta-esque’ instrumentation on the ‘Sunship Remix’ with conquering the dancefloor on his mind and it might just be the strongest track on the EP. Reminiscent of Kelis’ ‘4th of July’ is the closing ‘Ruff Loaderz Remix’ which sees the afro-beat number literally transformed into a house number.
The Extended Play is a collection of racy dance numbers which will find a home in any European nightclub. Unquestionably this is G.O.O.D music and the charts can attest to this fact.
