Game: Chelsea Vs Man Utd

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Competition: UEFA Champions League ¼ finals, 1st Leg

Hey folks, the good devil has come again. So far tonight’s game was the biggest for my boys this season. Chelsea has been our kryptonite over the years and I expected a tough match. Thankfully though this is the UEFA champions league and not the English premier  league (here we have the upper hand). The Blues as Chelsea is popularly known, is a formidable team and I have loads of respect for them, then again who doesn’t? They are a wonderful side with a bevy of  world class players. However this is football and every team is beatable. I must fess up though, fear been grip me badly before the game start. I was hoping for a 2-2 draw going into this game because away goals would do us a lot of good going into the 2nd leg at Old Trafford next week.

Last week’s game against West-Ham was one hell of a game with a very happy ending for my boys. In case you missed that we came from 2 goals down to win 4:2. Then again this is Chelsea it would be much harder coming back from 2 goals down(not impossible but i wasn’t looking forward to dat prospect). As usual I spent most of the pre-match formalities coming up with excuses just in case we lose the match.

The starting line up for us appeared strong enough. Nani’s absence did give me cause for concern, but I’ve come to trust Ferguson’s judgment. The game kicked off with Chelsea dominating possession and looking the sharper of both sides. Lucky for us Man Utd got better as the game progressed and had a fair share of the ball possession. In the 24min a beautiful pass by Giggs found Rooney, whose well placed finish had Cech well beat. 1:0 United get on the score sheet. I celebrated this goal with my signature dance moves (I pray you don’t see me dance, I am atrocious). The 1st half was action packed. Drogba is a monster, that guy made me shiver every time he touched the ball. Chelsea was relentless but United held on to their lead. Half time

The 2nd half didn’t have much to offer in the opening minutes but as the match progressed the pace and aggression level increased. Tackles were let loose all over the field. Most times such tackles were rash and ill advised. A casualty of this wrestle mania Rafael was subbed after he hurt himself in an attempt to tackle the “Monster” aka Drogba. This led to Nani’s introduction and Valencia deputised at right back for the remainder of the match. (Big Kudos to Sir Alex, strange switch but effective). Chelsea had lots of chances but seemed to lack that killer instinct in front of goal. On the rare occasions they pulled the trigger Van Der Sar was there to thwart their efforts. Chelsea had 2 penalty shouts but the Referee thankfully was having none of it. I’ll admit the 1st looked genuine (Evra’s tackle on Ramires) but the 2 nd (Torres’ dive) had no merit whatsoever. As they say payback is a b***h. The game ended 1-0 in favour of United.

Rooney “Wazza” was all over the pitch during the game. He constantly caused problems for the Chelsea defence and midfield. ManUtd’s blushes were spared by Van Der Saar. The 40 year old hardly put a foot wrong (well na him job he dey do). I’m glad Rio Ferdinand is back. The Treble is most definitely within our grasps. It was difficult for me to pick my man of the match but I will give it Wayne Rooney, he was the goal scorer but a special mention goes to Ryan Giggs. He is an outstanding footballer. It was an interesting game but sadly United isn’t home and dry. The good news is we take a goal advantage back to Old Trafford. Chelsea has a fighting chance but I trust United will finish this one off in the 2nd leg. Sorry guys but you might not get to read any of my excuses because I don’t see my team losing again this season (Amen).

Thanks again for your time guys. God bless.

  5. 1-0 win, yeah it was a hell 9ice result for the ManUre( my baptismal name for the mancunian) in a bizzare fashion. ShAFt won’t whinge cos he got it goin it way this time around. What a hell lot of boredom called a football match. I nid s1 2 tell that Abram-‘novice’ dt epl is more than a barricade 4 ‘fuss’ball, big names don’t shake epl. Why on earth wud ancelotti continue 2 start a defending striker lyk torres, player who is a bit shy of hittin d bak of d net to Anelka who i think is d bst chaff player so far. IMO, chaffs nids penetrating wingers. Get ds down ur brain o ye chaff boys, the 2nd leg is good as gone as I am of the believe that u guys won’t spring a surprise @ old Ragford.
