Game: Manchester United Vs Schalke FC
Venue: Old Trafford
Competition : Champions League ½ final  2nd leg

Hi everyone, I hope the weekend was wonderful? Mine wasn’t so good because 4 of the 5 teams that excite me lost their respective league games. My close friends would know these other teams though. Moving on, we have a semi-final tie to decide tonight (a stage where some of my haters hardly get to). Winning the 1st leg  2-0, I didn’t expect a very strong XI for this tie especially when you have to play Chelsea on Sunday. Schalke have been a terrific side in this season’s champions especially with their antics against defending champions Inter Milan.

Like I said I wasn’t expecting a strong side for this game but did Sir Alex have to bench all our regular players? Rooney and Chicharito found it difficult to score against Neuer I was wondering how Berbatov would but all the same Fergie knows best. United started with Van Der Saar, Rafael, Smalling, Evans, O’shea (Captain), Scholes, Gibson, Anderson, Nani, Valencia and Berbatov. Schalke with the competitions all time leading scorer (Raul), Jurado, Farfan, Uchido, Metzelder put up a formidable side and I was scared they would tear out my young squad.

The 1st half started well for my young side though both sides sharing the possession evenly in the 1st few minutes. In all fairness it was kind of balanced but United looked more promising. United created chances but the final touch wasn’t there. Suddenly suddenly, Uchido loses the ball and it falls to Anderson who in turn sent a pass across to Gibson who put in a through pass to Valencia to shoot past Neuer to put Man Utd ahead. From then on it was United’s game for the taking. As if the 1st goal wasn’t well worked then you need to have seen Gibson’s goal for United’s 2nd on the night. Well struck shot from inside the 18yard box thanks to a pass from Valencia. At this moment I was proud of my team but Schalke’s Jurado’s strike brought me crashing back to reality. A shot two keepers wouldn’t catch. United were still the dominant side. Apparently the only time I get to hear Raul’s name in the game was whenever the commentators had something to say about his achievements, he was simply anonymous or should I say camera shy. Well na person wey see ball go play. 1st half ended 2-1 and I could confidently say we were home and dry.

2nd half started with Schalke trying to get a quick goal. I am sure Raul must have read my mind. He came into the 2nd half with his A game pushing the away side’s onslaught for goals but my young defence was having none of it. Ando came close in 54th minute with a well struck shot outside the box but Neuer was quick to react. Rafael was taken off for Evra after it appeared he had taken a knock. At a point I got bored until the 72nd minute where United scored a 3rd goal after a well worked pass from Nani to Anderson and the game was definitely put out of Schalke’s reach. Fletcher who had been out for over 2 months came on to replace the carded Scholes.  As if 3 goals weren’t  enough, Anderson scored the 4th and his 2nd of the night after a beautiful string of passes were exchanged between Valencia and Berbatov in the 76th minute. It was evident this United side was vexing (Choi weitin come do una for Sunday?). The game ended 4-1 and it was a beautiful performance from a side that I would regard as Man Utd’s B team with due respect to Scholes and Van Der Saar (But all na United sha).

Wembley brace yourself for two of Europe’s most consistent sides in the last 5 years. It’s Man Utd Vs Barcelona in the Champions league final again for the 2nd time in 3 seasons. Man of the match for me was Anderson but Valencia and Gibson were amazing on the night. I can only hope United go into the Chelsea game with tonight’s confidence. Nice one lads. I need just 3 more victories from you this season ( two in the league and the champions league final).

Glory Glory Man Utd, As The Reds Go Marching On……………

Thanks so much for your time. You guys rock…………………….. Bless y’all
