Folarin Ayeni, popularly known as “Sheva” or “FolaSheva” to some got involved with music from an early age where he began playing the piano in school, having been given a keyboard as a birthday gift at the tender age of 9.
In high school, he began writing lyrics an horning his skills before travelling to the UK for studies.
A graduate of law as well as a masters degree holder in law, he started doing radio and spearheaded a rap show on the Ben & Ceri show.
In 2013, he partnered with Idahosa Osagie to start up the label Mavrik Music, which facilitated his moving back to Nigeria that year. He also had to promote his first single “Stay” which had been released in the UK earlier that year. The song was a spring in his career, as he won the Fresh Beat artist on Beat Fm and later went on to release “Alright (freestyle)” which was produced by Chopstix and then “Oh Na Na” in 2014.
In 2017, Sheva then released a song and video titled “Made ”˜Em Proud” , which was essentially an ode to artistes that had paved the way in the entertainment industry in Nigeria, from 2 Baba; M.I, Modenine and many alike. It is from his forthcoming EP titled “When The World Turns Story”,which is scheduled for release later this year. His follow up single is called “Say Yeah” (also from that project)
Sheva describes his music as alternative Hip hop in line with catchy melodies and arrangements, and has joined forces with Oz and Mich (co-label members) with the aim of bringing pure art and entertainment to Nigeria.
