Timaya, born Enitimi Alfred Odom on August 15, 1980, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, is the youngest of fifteen siblings. He grew up in a large family and was exposed to music from an early age, influenced by his environment, which included various genres and local music styles. Timaya attended a secondary school in Port Harcourt, followed by a brief stint at the Institute of Management Technology, Enugu, where he studied business administration.
Career Beginnings
Timaya began his music career in 2005 with the release of his debut album, True Story. The album featured the hit single “Dem Mama,” which highlighted the struggles in the Niger Delta region and showcased Timaya’s unique blend of dancehall and Nigerian traditional rhythms.
