The nominees for this year’s All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) have been unveiled and Nigeria’s own Davido alongside South Africa’s Mafikizolo lead the pack with a total of 6 nominations each.

While it comes as no surprise that Davido who repersents Nigeria and Weast Africa by extension is up for artiste of the year, he would be having to slug it outwith artistes from the other five regions Mafikizolo, Uhuru, Angelique Kidjo, amongst others.

Other Nigerian stars were also not left out, the likes of P-Square, DonJazzy, Tiwas Savage, Flavour, Burnaboy, Patoranking, Yemi Alade, Temi Dollface, Del B.

Voting on the online platform opens on Tuesday, 30th September while the award ceremony itself would take place on Sunday, November 9th, 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria.

          • When I see Africa award nominees. All I can just do is laugh, because songs are always nominated for the wrong categories and not even the right songs. And to even see people with “brain-less” comments even keeps me wondering if they v got brain that reason. Even if u dint go to sch, life is easy now u can check google(all thanks to free Mb) and update ursef. These are nominees but rather selections for us to waste or money and time voting! Africa pls develop. Africans pls grow up

  19. i see no reason y u should insult odas just to express ur opinion!! wizkid, davido whoever it may be,there r representing nigeria…thumps up to dem!!

  20. Aye 4 best HipHop? Even Yawa dey by Burna boy is not a Reggae song… That just prove How Rubbish the award is… Songs like Turn up, Surulere, Caro, Double Wahala and Many are Missing. Rubbish Award #TeamYBNL

  22. Kudos to badoo, where is wizkid nonsense list everi tin na davido, dat boy wey kno no anytin na to buy songs

    • Buying song is better than to sing rubbish

    • Mr wizman is still finding it difficult to grow up….hmmmm:mm mayb next yr…..#hkngang#….

    • Even Chris Brown, Beyonce, rihanna do buy songs go find out. It better to buy songs than be repeating line in every song

  23. Awards these days are so whack, how can someone who barely drop songs (and even when he does, buys) be compared to someone with talent. Awards should serve as encourage for people who put it in the hardworkm Wizkid keeps taking it off internationally putting Nigeria ahead and yet nobody rewards him..even his country people dnt recognise that. And davido stil respects wizkid because he knows wot wiz is made of..dnt forget he called him legend. I dnt jez knw why people dnt say truth when it really matters. So off all the hit songs wiz dropped(nt a newcomer oh) ntn was noticed #shitty award

  24. The best artiste that can’t even freestyle, whack voice, doesn’t drop regularly for his fans compared to starboy, puts in alotta hardwork..mostly for his fans #niqqaWithTalent

  33. This is Nigeria n South Africans awards
Cuz there are a lot of talents In Africa

Best hip pop n I didn’t see best African artiste song in there
Plus Wizkid n Phyno deserves nominations
Where is Fuse Odg n co..
Naija songs = rubbish n still we get more nominations
If its by voting then wat do u expect..
almost 180 million people with about 60% into music.. voting will not be fair against less populated nations

  38. wizkid is good buh he dropped a bit and he bounced bck wit dat Ayó Album… guess we gonna see him picking evry award he gets nominated in from nxt year. cos this nominations are songs released from June 2013- July 2014. #TeamWizzy

  39. U guys should stop dis davido wizz tin. I love wizzy to d bone, but I also love davido….. Life na turn bye turn o, 4rm 2011 to early 2013 it was wizzy, he won all d awards in front of him and in d history of nigerian music wizz has d highest collabo in a calendar year so ladies and gentle me wizz na baba. BUT now we hv a certain davido who is obviosly gud too, making hits, winnig awards, getting more fans……. So it,s davido,s turn to shine just as wizz did so we all just have to accept that cos its a fact…… I love dem both and I wish dem well……..
