- No Music Day!!!
In protest against widespread piracy, the Nigerian Music Industry Coalition has slated Monday, September 1 as another day for its ”˜No Music Day` campaign.
The event which will be in its 6th year, will focus attention on the widespread infringement of the rights of composers, song writers, performers, music publishers and other stakeholders in the Nigerian music industry.
As part of activities of ”˜No Music Day 2014`, the coalition as usual has requested all broadcast stations and the major users of music across the country not to broadcast music between the hours of 9am-10am on Monday September 1, 2014 as a mark of solidarity with the nation`s creative industry being devastated by massive copyright infringement. All stations sympathetic to the plight of the music industry are being requested to dedicate the time belt to interviews, documentaries, debates and discussions that focus on the rights of creative people and the state of intellectual property rights in Africa`s most populous nation. Newspapers and magazines are also being encouraged to do special features on the industry to mark the day.

- My presence may threaten Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay – May7venÂ
UK-based Nigerian singer May7ven is back in the country for the promotion of her new single, ‘What Ya Feeling’ produced by Tee-Y Mix.
In a recent interview, she revealed that the likes of Seyi Shay and Tiwa Savage were learning from her while all three lived in London years ago. According to her, “I know when I started, I know why a lot of females are now here. The likes of Seyi Shay and Tiwa Savage were all with me in London when I did ”˜Bo Aso Lara mi`, so I influenced majority of them to be doing what they are doing now. There always has to be a leader, someone who starts and creates things, and that`s how I see myself already. So the style I`m doing now, I guarantee you in another two years you`ll find another set of Tiwa Savage doing what I`m doing. I`ve always been an innovator and you can interview any of them, they`ll tell you the same thing so they maybe threatened that I`m around and not the other way round”.
Is Tiwa’s title as Queen of Nigerian Pop about to be hijacked by her former bandmate way back May7ven?
