Diary of A ManUtd Fan

Game: Manchester United Vs Manchester City (Manchester Derby)
Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester, England
Competition :  League Match

Hello peeps, it was a bad weekend for me as my team Man Utd were totally massacred at their fortress. It was an embarrassing game for the Red Devils and even Sir Alex described the loss as his worst day ever in football. Man Utd were humbled by their so called noisy neighbours (Man City) and to make matters worse they ended United’s unbeaten run in the season and handed the Red Devils their 1st loss at home in the league since April 2010. Now I am beginning to have respect for Mancini’s boys though I still don’t respect Mancini as a manager. Sorry to say, but that is gist for another day.

Man City before kickoff were however the most in form side in the league of the 2 sides with 7 wins and 1 draw. United couldn’t boast of the same blistering form asides being unbeaten. Their form on the field of play hasn’t being good of late. With poor performances against Stoke City, Norwich City, Liverpool and Otelul Galati despite victories over Norwich and Otelul. Man Utd’s form in one word ‘ Appalling’. With the poor form I still believed they would step up their game against their local rivals.

This game was the 161st derby involving both teams with Man Utd having won 70 times, City 44 times and 50 draws between them before this fixture. United have  won 3 of d last 4 games between both sides. Looked like the tie would go the Red Devils’ way on paper but based on current form, City were not smiling. Both sides have got wonderful history. They hold the record for the highest attendance in British football history with City recording an attendance of 84,569 people in 1934 and United having 83,260 people in 1948. Ironically, Man Utd’s record attendance was achieved at City’s Maine Road ground because United’s Old Trafford ground was damaged during the World War II. Enough with the history lesson. The game at hand is all about bragging rights, as the biggest teams in Manchester and even in the whole of England slug it out on the field of play.

Sir Alex still had injury issues, though Rafael being the only notable name out. Cleverly wasn’t listed due to lack of fitness. I was shocked Skipper Nemanja Vidic was also not listed, to cap it all up Jones was put on the bench.  Amazingly Evans who confessed about his loss of form during the past week made the starting line up. I wonder what Fergie was thinking. In my mind I knew Man Utd could not win this game, best outcome for them was a draw, despite my criticism of City when it comes to playing big teams. On the other hand City had no injury worries, they had a fully fit squad. Mancini however surprised me by dropping Nasri on the bench. Before the game, Nasri was on top of  the assist charts with 6 assists in 6 games for City.  Personally I felt Sir Alex killed the game for United by starting Evans. Degea, Smalling, Evra, Ferdinand, Evans, Anderson, Fletcher, Nani, Young, Rooney and Welbeck started for United while Mancini’s starting XI had Joe Hart in goal and Micah Richards, Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, Gael Clichy, YayaToure, James Milner, David Silva, Gareth Barry, Kun Aguero and Mario Balotelli completing the line up.

The 1st half kicked off with Aguero almost getting the better of his former team mate (De Gea) in goal for the Red Devils. United then dominated play there on and playing purposefully with City being laid back and taking their time. United didn’t create any clear chance but it was looking like a goal would come through for them with their constant runs towards the City goal. The goal didn’t come and City were beginning to settle into the game. They also created chances and were blessed with a goal by Mario Balotelli in the 22nd minute after receiving a pass from Milner. Hart was called into action just once in this half by the Red Devils. United were limited to taking shots from distance as the City defence was rock solid. The half ended 1-0 in City’s favour.

2nd half kicked off with  things going from bad to worse for United. Evans foolishly held back Balotelli, preventing him from heading towards Man Utd’s goal. He was shown a red card instantly. United escaped the threat from the set piece awarded to City. The Citizens as City are fondly called then got a 2nd goal on the hour mark through Balotelli again. United played on with 3 defenders before Sir Alex made a double change to bring on Phil Jones and Chicharito for Anderson and Nani respectively. The changes didn’t have much impact as City got a 3rd goal in the 69th through Aguero. The goal was well worked out.  Game over for me at this juncture. David Siva was running all over the place creating chances for his team mates.  Fletcher got a goal back for United in the 81st  minute . It didn’t move me. Though it was a top quality goal. A sublime finish from the Scot. The goal however led to the total destruction of Man Utd. Dem wan form come back…….. shior. United kept attacking, in all honesty I didn’t even expect a second goal. Was already thinking about Man Utd’s next league game against  Everton. Edin Dzeko who came on for Balotelli got the  1st of his brace in the 89th minute and David Silva got a well deserved goal in the 90th minute. Dzeko got his 2nd of the game in extra time to complete the Six and the City series. Damn I couldn’t believe the result….. 6-1? Was like a dream. This is the worst defeat I have witnessed as a Man Utd fan, it sits above the 5-0 loss to Chelsea in 1999. The 161st derby game belonged to City. They automatically have the bragging rights. Till April next year anyway, only if both sides meet in the UCL, FA Cup or Carling cup.  I was  disappointed at this result.

My man of this match is none other than David Silva. He is already the player of the season for me. But Milner also had a great game. I think it’s time Ferdinand is released and Evans given out for free. And if you must know we beat Aldershot tonight,  with Berbatov, Owen and Valencia the scorers.

Thanks again for your time………… Anti-Man Utd peeps you can have a field day throwing tantrums at my beloved team. ……………………  Bless

  1. “I tried to upload the Manchester derby to porn hub, but they don’t allow rape…”

  2. If Milner/Barry had played at least a bit of what he did in the Manchester derby, England could have saved the WC10 embarrassment.

  3. I just recalled the PM had a blast of Manchester derby clashed. United crushed by City 6-1. lol…

  4. Well as a man u fan, I wasn’t really surprised at the loss but it was just the scores. There was no creativity in the mid field and our attack simply lack coordination. I luv football of now,u get punished when u don’t buy. From last season it was obvious our prooblem is in the midffield. I was shocked when fergie has the opportunity of getting a world class midfielder, he ignored the chance. Football now is about teaching, just as we taught wenger to buy players. I feel fergusson should get the picture clear that the likes of carrick, fletcher, anderson and growing cleverly is not the man u standard of winning trophies.wake up man…..

  5. Still recovering from the Manchester derby. A dark day best forgotten
