SPORT: Diary of A Manchester United Fan (Transfer Tit Bits n Rumours)

Posted by 00-Babs on June 23, 2011 in Sport · 5 Comments

Though the transfer window is still young but the rumours and transfers have not piled up like it used to  in previous years. Anyways some teams are chasing players while some are looking for both players and managers. Chelsea FC owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abrahamovic have secured a deal to sign  Porto’s 33 year old manager Andre Villas- Boas. Yeah he is that young and he won the league in Portugal, the Europa league and Campeonato de Portugal in his 1st full season as manager. My question is how does the manager that is of the same age with Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba and younger than Hilario control them? Well what’s my own, if their house isn’t in order  it is to my darling United’s benefit.  They are also planning on spending over 30 mill on Luka Modric. He is a fine player no doubt but paying that much for a player who can’t  boast of more than 5 assists for Spurs since 2009? Come on Chelsea you can do better. Even Alberto Aquillani that spent a season with Liverpool had 6 assists before he went to Juve on loan.

What is this gist about Arsenal signing Samuel Eto’o? I will die fighting. Arsene Wenger to sign a player whose salary is over 130k a week? Let’s see how that goes.  A team that has found it hard to pay £10m for Blackburn’s Christopher Samba. Anyways I hope they sign top quality players that can elevate them to 2nd or 3rd from last season’s 4th position. As at February this year my Arsenal friends were chanting we are winning a quadruple of trophies after losing to Birmingham in the Carling cup final, it became treble after losing to Barca in the champions league we heard double. They lost to the Red Devils in the FA Cup the song changed to single. In April we didn’t hear any noise again so I guessed the silence meant HUMBLED. Anyways I am sure they will spend well this time around because Liverpool isn’t smiling too.

Speaking of Liverpool, Jordan Henderson? £20m? And they say Man Utd wasted £16m on Phil Jones. Same English hype.  Truth be told there has been a revolution at Anfield since King Kenny’s return to the manager’s seat. Liverpool had a good end to the season though no European football for them in the coming season. I respect Kenny Dalgish but Man Utd  knocked Livepool off their perch after his return to football (sorry boss).

I hear gist about Samir Nasri flirting with a move to Man Utd? God forbid. Don’t hype yourself bro, United doesn’t need u. Cesc  Fabregas  and Robin Van Persie? A flirtation that is highly welcomed, hehehehehehehehehehehehe. Ashley Young looks like a done deal but players I would love to see at this great team are Wesley Sneijder (Inter), Samuel Eto’o (Inter), Lassana Diarra (Madrid)  and Gary Cahill (Bolton). I trust Sir Alex, he knows what’s best for the team. Judging by what I saw during the course of last season and the Under 21 Euro tournament currently going on in Denmark, David De Gea might just be the perfect replacement for Van Der Saar.

Man City have been rather quiet, but  I am sure they will get busy soon. As a hater of the team, I hope Tevez leaves. Jeez that guy is a monster. I hear Jerome Boateng wants to leave for Bayern Munich because he would have an opportunity to play in central defence for the Bavarians. Quit the excuse Jerome you are not just good enough for the Citizens.

Barcelona is close to agreeing a £32m deal with Udinese for the services of Alexis Sanchez. Well he is a good player to be honest but isn’t that too much for a player in my own opinion that could be a 1 season wonder. Well Fabregas (a proven star) seems you ain’t worth it after all. Madrid have been unusually quiet  of recent except for their pursuit of a certain Contreao who plays for Benefica in Portugal. I trust Jose Mourinho, he would definitely spend.

The team I respect the most when it comes to transfers is AC Milan. They don’t spend much on players, or they  sign a player on loan and make the move permanent if the player impresses  (In Naija I have only heard of no testing but in this case I must test before I pay).  I hope my bro doesn’t see this though.

In my own opinion this transfer window is boring (at the moment) but I hope this write up didn’t bore you.

Thanks as always…………………………… Bless

Swizz

  3. The thought of a move for David De Gea and Sneijder makes me happy for Utd. Although I questioned the acquisition of Bebe (who’s been loaned off anyway) last season..hope they don’t do likewise this season. Great write-up and heads-up on the transfer window. Cheers!
