Nigerian football fans are like the biggest premiership fans in the world right now so i will say this match is going to bring a lot of noise around Las Gidi and beyond .
if we are genuinely going to take Arsenal seriously for the title then they have to win this game.
How many times have we seen the Gunners play their brand of beautiful football only to be outmuscled by both Chelsea and Manchester United when it comes to the crunch.
Case in point, December 13.
Having tipped Arsenal for the win at Old Trafford as they looked to have plenty in their favour, United were just that bit quicker to the ball for much of the game as the Gunners were never given a moment to settle.
So on balance, United yet again deserved their 1-0 success.
Arsenal remain a young team and they do seem to be coping better against their two biggest title rivals as manager Arsene Wenger made a salient point in a recent interview. He said: “We have the chance to show our improvement is bigger than any other side.”
It now comes down to that improvement being enough to beat a Chelsea side that has won the last five clashes between these two sides.
That said, their own recent form has left plenty to be desired as they find themselves outside the top three at Christmas for the first time since 2001.
Carlo Ancelotti has watched his team go five matches without a victory – that equates to a mini-crisis at Stamford Bridge.
But an improved second-half display at Tottenham despite Didier Drogba’s late missed penalty provides some cause for optimism.
As does the return of Frank Lampard to the starting line-up for the first time since August while key components John Terry and Michael Essien are that bit closer to full match fitness with a couple of games under their belts.
Drogba’s miss from the spot was a rare occurence and missing is something he does very rarely when it comes to the Gunners.
Thirteen goals from 13 games must send shivers down the spine of everyone at the Emirates and he does seem to be returning to somehwere near his best having been hindered in the early part of the campaign by a bout of malaria.
His prospects of finding the back of the net at some stage seems better than 2/1 to me while Chelsea to just have the edge – once again – at 15/8 makes some appeal as well
I predict a 2-1 Chelsea Win …..What do you think???
