Born Temilade Openiyi on June 11, 1995, in Lagos, Nigeria, Tems grew up in a music-loving environment that nurtured her creative instincts. She attended Dowen College in Lagos and later pursued higher education in South Africa, where she continued developing her songwriting and production skills.
Tems began gaining attention in 2018 with her debut single “Mr Rebel.” Her 2019 breakout hit “Try Me” established her as a fresh and unique voice in Nigerian music, earning widespread acclaim for its raw emotion and authenticity.
