BNXN (Buju)
BNXN, formerly known as Buju, is one of Nigeria’s most distinctive Afro-fusion voices, blending melodic Afrobeats, dancehall influences, and introspective songwriting. Since his breakout in 2019, he has evolved from a featured hook specialist into a headline artist with strong streaming numbers and international collaborations.
Born Daniel Etiese Benson on May 14, 1997, in Lagos, BNXN developed an early passion for music influenced by Afrobeats, reggae, and American R&B. His grassroots growth online helped him gain early attention.
His collaboration with Zlatan on “Spiritual” brought him mainstream visibility, but it was the Burna Boy-assisted remix that propelled him further into the spotlight. From there, he became one of the most sought-after collaborators in Afrobeats.
In 2022, he officially transitioned from Buju to BNXN, marking a new era in his artistry. His debut studio album Sincerely, Benson (2023) showcased maturity in songwriting and production depth.
In 2024 and 2025, BNXN continued releasing high-performing singles and collaborations while strengthening his global touring presence and maintaining consistent streaming dominance across Africa and beyond.
BNXN represents the new-wave Afrobeats sound—melodic, emotionally aware, and globally adaptable—bridging street pop energy with international-ready songwriting.
