With the follow-up to 2021`s Resan, Nigerian street-hop singer and rapper Zlatan continues his mission to use his own journey to motivate others with OMO OLOGO EP, while embracing a variety of sounds.
Zlatan Ibile says “”˜Omo Ologo` is a Yoruba phrase, Omo means ”˜child`; ogo means ”˜glory`… I call myself a glorious child because of where I’m coming from”. The term is generally used for people that are successful in whatsoever they’re doing, be it dancing, acting, being a banker, holding a corporate job, whatever.
This EP is Zlatan glorifying God for making him come this far, See OMO OLOGO tracklist below;
“Omo Ologo”
“I went on a road trip with my friends to village setting in the east. When everyone was sleeping at night, it just keep ringing in my head: ”˜Omo’logo`. It means that when you set your eyes on me, you are actually seeing a glorious child. I`m passing the message to the streets to say it doesn’t matter where you’re from, you can make it from the gutter. It doesn’t matter the obstacles or limitations””if I can do it, you can do it. A lot of people, actually, viably, can relate to it. I`m a symbol to every little kid from the little town that I’m from. If I can make it this far, nothing should stop you from striving and trying to make it. So it’s a motivational song.”
“Let There Be Light” (feat. Seyi Vibez)
“It was just me and Seyi Vibez vibing in the studio that night. I really love the energy; Seyi Vibez has a very fast energy, the way he goes with the amapiano. So I blended myself into that. Some people are still finding out that I`m a good rapper, because most of my songs are singing””but I still like to always remind them that I rap too. Amapiano is life, bro. The world knows now.”
“RARA”
“It`s a love song. ”˜Rara` means ”˜no`. So I was saying, ”˜She says she wants love.` And I ask, ”˜You say you want love, but do you want love without money?` She said, ”˜Rara. I want love, not love without money.` So it’s me telling her, ”˜Okay, no problem; even if I don’t have money, I take her out to go and look for this money.` So it’s a love song. It`s me professing my love to her, this is the way I appreciate her””that`s the ”˜money` that she says she wants with the love.”
“Astalavista” (feat. Young Jonn)
“Young Jonn just called me and said he has a song but that the only person he’s hearing on the song is me. He already took the chorus and then he came to the studio. I love the song so much. He chose the title, and he knows my songs””I kind of make slangs like ”˜Astala, Astala`””so I don’t know, maybe that was what made him say that I had to be on the song .”
“JABOTI”
“Jabo means ”˜to fall`, so jaboti means ”˜I won’t fall`. I’m never going down, never going to back down, no matter what the circumstances; no matter how the music industry might want me to be; no matter the challenges. I’m not backing down; I’m going to be on my 10 toes.”
“Oganigwe” (feat. ODUMODUBLVCK & Jeriq)
“ODUMODUBLVCK is an underdog that the world is just starting to recognise now. The night we recorded ”˜PICANTO` , we also recorded ”˜Oganigwe`. the eastern part of Nigeria show me love, despite the fact that we don’t speak the same language. So I made a song with their sound. And then I got Jeriq and ODUMODU on the song, so it’s a cultural fusion kind of sound.
