Teeklef, born Ebuka Unogu on February 28, 1990, to Nigerian parents, Chief and Chief Mrs. Unogu hails from Owerri-Nkwoji village in Imo state, Nigeria. The sensational R ‘n’ B singer, rapper, producer, and songwriter who began his music career in Lagos, a city likened to New York city, is extolled by music pundits as one of the brightest talents to come out of Africa since Akon.

Teeklef was first spotted in his neighborhood church choir in Lagos, where he enchanted the congregation on a weekly basis. His solo performances in the choir, alongside his dexterity on the piano and the drums drew the attention of prospective artists in Lagos city.
From leading choir songs in his church, Teeklef was lured into a neighborhood music group. In 2005, the group began to perform locally and eventually appeared on a talent show hosted by the Nigerian Television Authority.
Just as the group began to gain public attention, Teeklef gained admission into the Imo State University, and left to pursue a college degree at the insistence of his parents. However, his passion for singing would not droop. Teeklef began to sing in several church choirs on campus, and soon became a college ground sensation. He earned gigs at society parties, campus events and private shows.

Teeklef was soon faced with the option of choosing to sign to one of the several record companies in Eastern Nigeria that showed interest in him or accept an admission offer to the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) in the United States, to pursue a degree in music.
A college degree in music in the United States, and a shot at the American music dream influenced Teeklef’s decision to move to the United States. After one academic year in music, Teeklef gave up music studies for biological science, however he continued to write, produce and perform songs.

He became a minor celebrity at the University of Indianapolis, performing on every campus wide event such as Martin Luther King’s Day, President Barack Obama’s inauguration celebration at UIndy, Kids and Sibs Week, UIndy Home Coming Week, United Nations Day celebration at UIndy, and Uindy’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner.

His celebrity status at the University of Indianapolis earned him invitations to perform at other universities and colleges across the Mid-west. He performed at such events as the African Students Association Convention at Manchester University, Manchester, IN, Black Students convention at Indiana University Bloomington, IN, and Welcome Week at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Teeklef was recognized by the University of Indianapolis Campus Program Board for his influence and artistic contribution to the University.

Teeklef caught the eye of local artists and producers in Indianapolis, and recorded and performed some of songs. He also produced other local artists and featured in a few mix-tapes. His popularity earned him gigs at night clubs such as Tadkaa, and Jazz Kitchen, state organized events such as the Annual African Convention 2009, and at charity events organized by Indianapolis based Young Patriots of Africa.

The multi-talented artist has his sights set on conquering the American and international market with his versatility and style
