Ed Sheeran Reveals That His Collaboration With Fireboy DML, ‘PERU’, Is The Biggest and Best Selling Afrobeats Record.

In December 2021, Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML released a new version of his 2021 hit single titled Peru. The new version features British singer, Ed Sheeran while production still remains with the same producer, Shizzi.

Within 7 days of release PERU music video surpassed 10 Million views on YouTube, making it Fireboy first most watched and trending music video. In January 2022, the song became the first Nigerian song to reach number 1 on UK Shazam.

In a recent interview with Ed Sheeran, the British talked about how his collaboration with YBNL’s Afrobeats artiste- Fireboy DML is the best selling record in UK and the Biggest Afrobeats record in the world. This revelation by @teddysphotos didn’t sit well with some Nigerians, most especially Wizkid FC who feel ‘Essence’ is the Biggest Afrobeats Record.
