Another win for Wizkid! His groundbreaking single with Tems ‘Essence’ is eligible for another Platinum certification in the U.S.
On October 5, 2021, it was reported that ‘Essence’ has been certified platinum in the US. It also became the first African song to hit that milestone.
On February 25, 2022, it has confirmed that the single is eligible for another Platinum certification. In the United States, platinum certification means that an album has sold 1 million copies or that a single has sold 2 million copies.
With another Platinum certification for Wizkid, It means the song has sold over 4 million copies in the span of 4 months. This achievement will also make Wizkid the first Nigerian artist to be certified Platinum twice in the U.S.
