A few weeks ago, the TARUWA FESTIVAL OF PERFORMING ARTS IN NIGERIA TAF was announced to very positive reception. Powered by Gbagyichild Entertainment, conveners of the hugely famous monthly gathering TARUWA, the Festival is a 3day event which kicks off this Thursday, June 6, and the team is proud to announce that BOBO Omotayo`s bookLONDON LIFE, LAGOS LIVING has been adapted for the stage, to be seen for the first time ever at the Taruwa festival!
LONDON LIFE, LAGOS LIVING , The collection of short Lagos-life observations turned ‘tales’, is the extraordinary journey of a western trained mind trying to navigate his way through the Lagos metropolis. Published in November 2011, the book has received rave reviews, and the Author, Bobo Omotayo, is excited about this project, saying “The adaptation of the book into a movie and TV series had been offered by various production houses since its publication. However, when the organisers of Taruwa approached us with this great concept, it was something I felt was worth exploring – and Just like the collection of short stories, there’s a lot of food for thought”¦ so when attendingcome with an open mind”
The London Life, Lagos Living theatre production features a stellar cast, with Kenneth Uphopho as Director, and the Taruwa Festival Convener, Lydia Idakula Sobogun, as Producer.
Also, as part of the plan for a well-rounded evening, the event, which doubles as the opening ceremony for the festival will feature a special music performance by the ”˜Supersun` BEZ, and Ijeoma Agu`s one-woman show ”˜CHRONICLES OF A HEROINE`, which she first performed in London as part of the Olympics team from Nigeria, and which always has the audience spell-bound.
So, picture a group of vibrant actors show you the life and experiences of a young man, a woman engage you with her tales of woe, and a rockstar strum his guitar while singing to your heart, all in the space of 2hours!! That`s exactly what the show will be about”¦ See you at the Festival!
