Yemi Alade has shared reasons why Angelique Kidjo’s album “Mother Nature” defeated Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos”.
Yemi made the revelation by retweeting something a fan said whilst congratulating her. According to the fan (Jack), Wizkid, Femi Kuti and Made Kuti failed to inspire or sing about the problems in the world in their albums.
Jack revealed that Angelique’s album ‘Mother Nature’, talked about the dangers of climate change-induced disasters and how they will impact Africa. He added that it is insulting to wonder why she won after singing about things the West is worried about unlike others who couldn’t make good music.
With Yemi Alade retweeting it, we can confidently say she agrees with Jack and Angelique deserves the Grammys ‘Best Global Music Album’ award instead of Wizkid or Femi Kuti. Yemi Alade won her first Grammy award for her being a featured artist on Angelique’s Kidjo Award-winning album, Mother Nature.

Angelique Kidjo made #Dignity with Yemi Alade and dedicated it to Nigerians who lost their lives at the Lekki tollgate. The song is the lead single for the #MotherNature and today it has won #GRAMMYs. You all are just getting pained. She is a legend and she knows her onions. pic.twitter.com/x5v7ymXhs0
