Burna Boy got nominated for the 62nd Grammy award yesterday with his African Giant album entering the World Music Album category and since then, there has been opinions about him now taking up the position of the biggest Afrobeat artiste in Nigeria.
The tag of the biggest artiste in Nigeria is being sent the way of Burna Boy. Although that has been happening ever since he had a massive 2018. There are a lot of people that believe he has flown past the level of Davido and Wizkid in terms of his musical influence and the fan base he commands in the country. This notion however has been countered by many as they believe he is still yet to get to the level of Davido and Wiz.
But there could now be a strong claim to Burna’s dominance over David and Wiz after his latest achievement which is the Grammy nomination.
It has always been the dream of every music lover that a Nigerian music artiste one day gets a nod at the Grammy awards. That dream has however turned reality via Burna Boy as his African Giant album sits comfortably in the nomination category for World Music Album for next year’s Grammy award ceremony and this definitely has now re-opened talks about him being the greatest Nigerian artiste alive right now.
Davido and Wizkid used to be Nigeria’s biggest hopes for the Grammy, but Burna takes away that hope from them as he gets nominated.
