In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published Thursday (Dec. 7), Adele was brutally honest about what she really thinks when other artists attempt to sing her hits.
βWith my music, and for whoever listens to it, I think Iβm not the best singer in the world at all, but no one else can sing my songs like me because they didnβt write them,β she said. βNo one can sing my songs like me, period.β
βThe lyrics are not their own,β she added, laughing. βAnd I donβt think anyone else should sing my songs.β
OK, the Queen of Soul might be the one exception. βApart from Aretha Franklin,β Adele amended when asked about the late legendβs cover of βRolling in the Deep.β
βNo, I donβt mind it when they do, but Iβm just saying, theyβre never going to be able to emote it,β she continued. βSame way that I canβt sing other peopleβs songs. I didnβt write the lyrics, and I canβt sing as well as them. But itβs just like, I would choose this any day.β

As for new music, Adele says she hasnβt βeven thought about it.β The same pretty much goes for collaborations with other artists, with the βEasy On Meβ singer revealing that sheβs turned down βa lotβ of duet requests. βSome of them are just an obvious no, that I would never do,β she shared.
βSome people ask and Iβm like, In what world do you actually think I would say yes to that?β And it doesnβt make any sense either. A couple that Iβve been like, Oh, I want to do that,β and the timing hasnβt worked out.β
βIβm not anti-it,β she added. βIβm not anti-it at all. Iβm open to it. But also, if I do it, it has to be fβking great.β
