Duncan Mighty, the Nigerian singer, says he took a break from music to go back to school.
Mighty, in the latest episode of the Big Conversation show, said he went to further his education at Freiburg University, Germany.
The singer recalled how he had to learn Dutch for “six months” before he got admission.
The 40-year-old said he has an MSc in Acoustics and will be pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) degree.
“Studying in an international community like Freiburg and Germany is not English speaking University so you have to do language course for six months to speak Dutch and then you will be admitted into school,”
he said.
“I give God praise, education never fails. I think it is the only thing that remains in you after old age.
“So if you were not able to go to school when your parents could send you, you should also go when you can send yourself. That is why I had to make the pause and I had to go to school. I am not done because I have to get a PhD.”
PhD is the most common degree at the highest academic level. It is awarded following a course of study and research.
Born Duncan Wene Mighty Okechukwu in Port Harcourt, the singer began his musical journey in a church choir.
His passion for music led him to study audio engineering to further develop his skills, focusing more on music production.
In 2008, Mighty released his first studio album titled Koliwater’ which featured standout songs like Ijeoma’ and Scatter My Dada’.
Three years later, the Port Harcourt-based music gem released Obianuju’, one of his most memorable songs, off his Ahamefuna (Legacy)’ album.
