This endorsement of Kamala Harris for President followed months of speculation, as Swift had previously supported the Biden-Harris ticket in the 2020 election and criticized Trump for various issues.
Pop superstar Taylor Swift has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for President following the debate between Harris and her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, on September 10. Swift’s announcement comes as the election approaches and early voting has already commenced. She had faced criticism online for not clarifying her choice sooner.
In an Instagram post made on Wednesday morning, Swift shared her decision, stating, “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. I’m voting for kamala harris for president because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
Swift’s post featured a photo of her with her cat from her TIME cover shoot last year, and she signed off with “Childless Cat Lady”—a nod to controversial comments made by Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance about women who choose not to have children. Swift also expressed her admiration for Harris’s choice of running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, praising his long-standing advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s autonomy. In her post, she also addressed misinformation circulating online, including AI-generated posts that falsely suggested she supported Trump.
“It really conjured up my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” Swift wrote. “It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift faced additional scrutiny over the weekend at the U.S. Open, where she was seen hugging suspected Trump supporter Brittany Mahomes. Despite this, Swift reaffirmed her stance, stating, “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.”
Meanwhile, a new report claims that Travis Kelce won’t be proposing to Taylor Swift without an “ironclad prenup.” The “Karma” singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 34, have been dating for just over a year. They took their relationship public in September 2023 when Taylor cheered him on at his NFL game against the Chicago Bears on his home turf at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
“There’s just no way Taylor would walk down the aisle without a prenup,” an insider told Life & Style. While the pair are reportedly discussing what their prenuptial agreement will look like, nothing has been finalized yet.
“The formalities are just their schedules that have gotten in the way, as well as the logistics of a prenup, which is obviously complicated by the vast amounts of money involved on both sides,” the source explained.
“This is a lot further along than either Taylor or Travis would care to admit, since they’ve considered themselves unofficially engaged for a while and are both 100 percent committed to spending the rest of their lives together and starting a family.”
