Nigerian artist and producer, Philip Kayode, widely known as singer Pheelz, has shared his thoughts on the true essence of music, challenging the notion that it should be seen merely as a means to achieve quick wealth.

Singer Pheelz believes that music holds much deeper spiritual significance.Β In his view, music embodies the essence of “God” and possesses a profound capacity for healing. He emphasized that the impact of music goes beyond the material, offering emotional and spiritual nourishment to those who engage with it.

In a post on his X account, singer Pheelz expressed:

“It is not a get rich quick scheme
It is not a hustle
Music is life
Music is feeling
Music is healing
Music is God.”

Meanwhile, in other related news, music producer and artist, Phillip Kayode Moses, also known as singer Pheelz, embraced the Afrobeats tag, describing it as the spirit of the Nigerian people. In an interview on the Afrobeats Podcast hosted by Adesope, Pheelz discussed the significance of the Afrobeats movement and its roots in the collective spirit of Nigerians and Africans.

According to singer Pheelz, Afrobeats is more than just a genre; it’s a movement powered by the energy and identity of the people. While some artists may choose to distance themselves from the Afrobeats label, singer Pheelz proudly identifies with it and is committed to waving the Afrobeats flag.

He stated:

β€œFor me, I feel like it’s a tag for how we make our music. It’s a form of identifying what we do and where we are from. To some degree, it’s a form of collective decision by us Africans or Nigerians or the culture that lets us move with this. So I choose to respect that collective decision and be part of that consciousness and boldly and proudly wave this flag.”

On whether the β€œAfrobeats” tag is restrictive, singer Pheelz explained that being an Afrobeats artist doesn’t limit him from exploring other genres.Β Regarding artists who reject the Afrobeats label, singer Pheelz added:

β€œNow is the time to even educate the world on what we have and what light we bring because the whole attention is on us. This is the time to teach, collaborate, and come together to save this light.”

He also shared a personal story about collaborating with American RnB superstar Usher on his latest album, “Coming Home.” Singer Pheelz described the experience as surreal, noting that working with an artist he idolizes was a significant moment in his career.
