Swansea, UK – September 2025 – Michael Olajide Ogunbayo, professionally known as DJ Mykejay, has established himself as a notable figure in Wales’ cultural and entertainment scene, combining academic achievement with music and community engagement.
Born and educated in Lagos, Nigeria, DJ Mykejay is a graduate of Lagos State University and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Administration (Nigeria). He completed an MSc in Management (Sustainability) at Swansea University, where he actively contributed to student life through music performances and event participation.
During his studies, he performed at several university events, including the School of Management Postgraduate Welcome Celebration, where his role in creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere was formally recognised by the University.
Since graduating, DJ Mykejay has performed at leading venues across South Wales, including Savana Bar & Nightclub, Peppermint, and DNA Lounge. His monthly showcase, Swansea Night Out, has become a cultural fixture, promoting Afrobeat, global sounds, and cross-cultural exchange, and attracting audiences from diverse communities.
He has curated themed events such as the Winter Graduation Party (December 2024), Love Language Valentine’s Special (February 2025), and the Eid-el-Kabir Celebration (June 2025), supporting both community and private functions.
Internationally, DJ Mykejay is a registered professional DJ with the Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) and CEO of Mykejay Event Ventures, an event management and entertainment company. On 31 August 2025, he was featured on Faaji FM 106.5, one of Nigeria’s leading radio stations, where his approach to music and cultural programming reached a global audience.
Looking ahead, DJ Mykejay plans to host Nigerian artists and DJs at events in the UK, fostering cultural exchange between Africa and the United Kingdom.
