Hey my favourite folks I am back as always. A lot of you thought our loss to Man City would keep me quiet. Well s**t happens I’m over it. I can`t remember the last time United has lost to Newcastle but truth be told if I wasn`t supporting Man Utd I would have been a Newcastle or Villa fan (Will not disclose why just yet, but close friends know though). I felt bad for Vidic and Van Der Saar considering our last outing. Anyways we’re United we bounce back. I expect Fergie’s hair dryer treatment would get my boys back in the Conquering mood. Three Points are at stake tonight and I want all of it! In Team news guess who`s back? Wazza (United fans know who this is but for the benefit of others, Wazza is Wayne Rooney). I was super confident going into this game so I placed a tenner(a £10 bet) on a United Victory. It’s becoming a season of 1sts. Last week I dropped my 1st set of Excuses no thanks to our lesser neighbours City. This week I gambled for the 1st time (I am sure I have let down a lot of people, no vex I’ll try not to make it a Habit).
I expected a different starting lineup compared to Saturday’s game and wasn`t surprised when I saw Ryan Giggs had nicked a starting shirt. We fielded a strong side and my confidence grew even bigger. Rooney with the completion of his suspension made the Ranks. Newcastle were 6points above the relegation zone. A victory for them will help improve their chances of Top flight football next season. Recent history is however not on their side; the best they’ve gotten out of Man Utd in the last 8 seasons is a draw. Newcastle had a few injury worries and suspensions but they fielded a relatively good side with key players like Danny Simpson, Cheik Tiote, Shola Ameobi making the final cut.
The 1st half started with Man Utd coming close in the 2nd minute through Chicharito but Krul in goal for the Magpies made a brilliant save. Sadly from that point onwards it was as if United closed shop. Newcastle dominated the game. They kept bombarding our box with waves of attack. It took almost half an hour for United to wake up from our self induced slumber. We strung a few good passes together and came close to scoring a couple of times. It seems like I kind of jinxed my boys with the bet (note to self; never place a bet on United). I was beginning to lose hope. Joey Barton and Jonas Gutierez were a constant Threat to the United defence. It was a relief to see scores level (0-0) at half time. I had assumed Fergie`s threat of a mass exodus at the end of the season was enough to motivate or at least scare his Lads into Top form. Alas that hadn’t work so far. I looked forward to the 2nd half hoping we would come out Guns blazing.
The 2nd half started quite well for us but Newcastle was not falling for Nani`s step overs. The Magpies should be have been awarded a penalty in 58th minute (pheeeeww, glad the ref let that pass). Giggs missed a sitter in the 69th minute and it finally dawned on me “this was going to be one of those games” *insert rolling my eyes bbm smiley* Dipo why the heck did you place the bet? The game dragged on with both sides not converting their chances. In extra time Utd had a spirited shout for a penalty. The Ref would also have none of it and he booked Chicharito for protesting to the contrary. To be honest it wasn`t a penalty but I would have given it. Relax it’s not because I rep Man Utd. The joker was Danny Simpson`s reaction (putting his hands on his head as if in admission of guilt).
The game ended 0-0. Well we didn’t lose, 2 points gone but the Title is still ours to lose. All in all it was an average game. My man of the match award goes to Cheik Tiote for a beautiful display in the heart of the Newcastle midfield. Special mentions to Jonas Gutierez of Newcastle and my boy Nemanja Vidic. Thanks to United’s lukewarm display Newcastle have reached the 40point mark and so far they’re safe from relegation. I am counting on Spurs to do us a favour by grabbing a few points off Arsenal tonight. I promise not to place bets again. It`s really not my thing, I was just trying to make fast cash (Why I no bet against Chelsea sef?).
Thanks for your time as always.God bless.
