Abuja-based Afro-fusion artist and producer HermosUz is steadily carving a lane for himself on the international music scene with the release of his latest single, “Goalazo” — a vibrant record designed to connect with listeners across cultures and continents.
Born Emmanuel Uzoma in Port Harcourt and raised in Abuja, HermosUz says his multicultural background has played a major role in shaping both his identity and musical style. After attending the American International School, Abuja, he continued his education at Randolph-Macon Academy in Virginia, United States, where exposure to diverse cultures helped expand his creative vision and global outlook.
Known for blending Afrobeat, Amapiano, melodic rap, and contemporary global sounds, HermosUz creates music that feels both emotionally grounded and internationally appealing. According to the artist, years of interacting with people from different backgrounds inspired him to develop a sound capable of resonating far beyond Africa.
His musical journey began at the age of 12 under the guidance of a digital piano instructor. What started as curiosity quickly evolved into a deep passion for music production, sound engineering, and mixing — skills he has spent years mastering to maintain complete creative control over his sound.
A graduate of Computer Science from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, HermosUz says his technical background strongly influences his production process. Using software tools like Logic Pro X and FL Studio, he produces much of his own music and often relies on freestyle recordings rather than written lyrics to capture authentic emotion and energy.
The artist also credits his father, Dr Uzoma Obiyo, a technology entrepreneur, for introducing him to a wide range of music growing up — from Sade to Tupac Shakur — influences that continue to shape his versatility and artistic direction today.
Currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps while pursuing a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, HermosUz remains focused on building a globally relevant music brand. Inspired by Drake, Wizkid, Tems, and PARTYNEXTDOOR, he says his mission is to create music that brings people together regardless of background or geography.
With “Goalazo,” HermosUz is positioning himself as one of the emerging voices in the Afro-fusion space while continuing his journey toward international recognition.
