50 Cent reportedly seeks to drop the defamation lawsuit he filed against his ex, Daphne Joy. In May, Fifty sued Joy, with whom he shares a 12-year-old son, Sire, for defamation and sought over $1 million in damages.
This legal action followed an Instagram post from March where Joy accused him of rape and physical abuse.
In her post, Daphne Joy wrote, “I am tired of upholding and protecting an image to our son that you have never even earned. Let’s put the real focus on your true evil actions of raping me and physically abusing me. You are no longer my oppressor and my God will handle you from this point on.”
The accusation came after 50 Cent appeared to shame Joy over a lawsuit against Diddy. Joy and City Girls rapper Yung Miami were allegedly mentioned as being paid for sex work by the Bad Boy Records founder. In response, 50 Cent tweeted, “I didn’t know you was a sex worker, you little sex worker. LOL Yo this shit is a movie,” alongside photos of himself smoking cigars in the rain.
Following Daphne Joy’s allegations of rape and abuse, 50 Cent addressed the matter by stating, “The most recent false and baseless accusations by Daphne Joy are clearly in response to my decision to seek sole custody of my son. My son, Sire, is my main priority and keeping him in a safe environment is my only focus at this time.”
He subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against Daphne Joy. However, according to newly reviewed legal documents by TMZ, the 49-year-old entertainment mogul has requested a judge to dismiss the defamation lawsuit without prejudice. This request follows Joy’s removal of the accusatory post from her Instagram account in July. A source informed TMZ that Joy’s action was “an attempt to smooth things over” with the Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ rapper, who had previously sought sole custody of their son after Joy was implicated in a sex work allegation linked to Sean “Diddy” Combs. Although the judge has yet to sign off on 50 Cent’s motion to dismiss the defamation lawsuit, it is expected to be a mere formality at this point.
Meanwhile, 50 Cent has also been making headlines with his involvement in a high-profile project. The American rapper sold the distribution rights to a multi-part docuseries about various sexual assault allegations against his colleague Diddy to Netflix. Diddy has been in the public eye since last November, after several women, including Cassie Ventura, the rapper’s ex-girlfriend, took him to court, claiming they were sexually assaulted.
Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, Diddy’s former producer, also filed a lawsuit alleging that the rapper sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened him for over a year. In March, the United States Department of Homeland Security raided two properties linked to Diddy.
50 Cent, who has been vocal on social media about the allegations against Diddy, confirmed that Netflix won the rights to the docuseries after a “bidding war involving multiple networks and streaming platforms.” In an Instagram post, he wrote, “TMZ use this fat boy picture of me because their doc went to Tubi LOL it’s ok guys we’re all making good television mines just happens to be the best! NETFLIX wins the bidding war but if more victims keep coming out I’m gonna need more episodes.”
The release date and title of the docuseries are yet to be announced.
