Shallipopi, the prominent singer, has shared his Advice to Artistes, emphasizing the importance of pricing their services according to their true value.
During a discussion about the high fees charged by Nigerian artists, Shallipopi conveyed his perspective in an interview with News Central TV. He highlighted that an artiste’s worth should be aligned with the success and popularity of their music.
In his Advice to Artistes, Shallipopi challenged the notion that Nigerian artists are overcharging for the local market. He argued that artists with streaming numbers comparable to those of American musicians should have similar fee structures. Shallipopi explained:
“It depends on your music and where it has gotten; that is what your price is going to be. If your music has achieved the same streaming success as an American artist, you should be charging similarly. However, if it hasn’t reached that level, overcharging is not justified. That’s just my advice to artistes.”
Meanwhile, Shallipopi recently stirred considerable buzz following the release of a video featuring him and his famous friend Davido. The excitement surrounded a grand wedding that occurred on August 17th, where notable blogger Adewumi Adeyanju, popularly known as Biesloaded, married his beloved Mariam in a lavish ceremony.
The event was nothing short of spectacular, with appearances from celebrities like Davido, the charismatic dancer Poco Lee, the ever-popular Cubana ChiefPriest, Zlatan Ibile, Tee Dollars, Shallipopi, and many others. The night was electric, highlighted by Davido’s memorable speech and captivating performance.
In the video, as Davido and Cubana ChiefPriest engaged in conversation at the special guests’ table, Shallipopi made his way through the crowd, heading straight for Davido. The footage captured a dramatic moment where Davido, with a warm smile, shared an enthusiastic greeting with Shallipopi, who became the focal point of the evening.

On the other hand, Cubana ChiefPriest’s intense gaze was fixed on Shallipopi, leading many viewers to interpret his look as a silent plea for acknowledgment. Social media quickly erupted with reactions, with commentators closely analyzing ChiefPriest’s expressions. Many noted that ChiefPriest seemed to be waiting for Shallipopi to acknowledge him, but the rapper bypassed him without a greeting, fueling speculation that the snub was intentional.
In related news, singer Michael Olayinka, famously known as Ruger, was recently seen linking up with fellow artistes Shallipopi, and Divine Ikubor, known mononymously as Rema, backstage. In a video posted on Instagram, Ruger was seen exchanging pleasantries with Shallipopi, while Zerry DI and Rema shared a handshake during the Wireless Festival in London. Another highlight from the festival included Ruger’s appearance with DJ Cuppy in a segment titled ‘Quick Wire Questions.’
Seated with microphones in hand, DJ Cuppy encouraged Ruger to express his ambitions. She said:
“This is your chance to put yourself out there, you know shoot that shot. If you could work with any other artiste, I mean we have so many…”
Ruger promptly responded, “Doja Cat,” and DJ Cuppy replied, “Oh, he said it. He knows what he wants.”
The Wireless Festival, an annual celebration of rap and hip-hop, is owned and managed by Live Nation and has become a key event in London’s music scene. The 2024 edition, which ran from July 12 to July 14, saw the three artistes perform.
