Cardi B and Offset are currently entangled in a lawsuit regarding their use of a lavish Beverly Hills mansion, which was prominently featured in their music video for Cardi’s song “Like What.”
Offset, who directed the video, and Cardi B are accused of misleading the property owner by claiming the shoot was for a TikTok video rather than a full-scale music video, thus avoiding standard rental fees. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the homeowner permitted Cardi B, Offset, and their team to use the mansion for free under the impression that it was for a brief TikTok video. The owner argues that had he known the video was a high-production music video—now boasting over 27 million views on YouTube—he would have required the proper rental fees. The property owner is seeking over $35,000 in damages.
The mansion, previously rented by Justin Bieber and featured in a Logan Paul video, is a key element in the “Like What” music video. The lawsuit claims Cardi B and Offset have benefited from the mansion’s use without adequate compensation to the homeowner.
In defense, Cardi B has rejected these allegations and is vigorously contesting the lawsuit. She addressed the issue on social media, stating that she paid $10,000 in cash for a full 24-hour rental of the mansion, plus extra fees for any additional time. Cardi B asserts that the property owner, along with realtors, was present throughout the shoot and was aware that it was a music video, not just a TikTok clip.
Cardi B tweeted, “We paid those people $10,000 IN CASH to rent the property for a whole 24 hours… Now they wanna finesse us trying to say we told them it was a TikTok video… IRON YOUR BEST SUIT BITCH I’ll see you in court!!!!”
This lawsuit adds to the challenges facing Cardi B and Offset, who recently welcomed their third child while navigating ongoing divorce proceedings. Despite the legal complications, Cardi B remains determined to resolve the issue in court.
