Music executive Dayo ‘D1’ Adeneye shared a story on the ‘Deep Dive’ podcast with Teju Babyface about 2face, also known as 2Baba, a music legend. He talked about how women used to faint during 2Baba’s performances because they were so captivated by him. Adeneye mentioned an incident in Ivory Coast where four ladies fainted at one of his concerts.
He used to work at Kennis Music, 2Baba’s former record label, which once had over 50 artists on its roster.
He said …
“At the height of Kennis Music, we had over 50 artists on the label. Lagbaja was signed to us. We had everybody, from gospel to hip-hop to fuji,” he said.
“We’ve been at a couple of shows where I’ve seen girls faint when 2Face was performing. I went on a tour in Ivory Coast, and brought a girl on stage and she hugged 2Face and passed out. During that concert, four girls fainted.
“These were people who didn’t speak English but they knew the lyrics of all his songs word-for-word. This was a francophone country and four girls fainted. We thought it was a joke but an ambulance had to carry them. They fainted just because they were in the presence of 2Face.”
