On Monday, 6th February 2023 Mr. Eazi took to his Twitter account to call out Latino megastar Bad Bunny for infringing on the intellectual property of EmPawa artist Joeboy. Mr. Eazi alleged that Bad Bunny had recorded a song without going through the standard clearance process with the label and the artist.

Mr. Eazi proceeded to post a YouTube link to the song in question alongside his tweet to eliminate any doubt regarding his claim. The EmPawa boss wasn’t done as he took to Linkedin to further expatiate on the copyright infringement.

In the post on his Instagram page, Mr. Eazi complained about the disregard from Bad Bunny and his label for failing to clear the song. He further shared that he found their actions to be disrespectful and condescending.

Copyright infringement is an issue that is taken quite seriously and is punishable by law. This is why Mr. Eazi decided to bring light to the issue and create awareness so that artists and labels can be thorough when releasing music.

Mr. Eazi is a staunch advocate of creators` rights and his actions in this instance are highly commendable.

Unfortunately, as of the time of filing this report, Bad Bunny’s camp has yet to reply and address the accusations made by Mr. Eazi. It remains to be seen if Bad Bunny will apologize and express remorse for the infringement or if a lawsuit will be filed. Whatever the case may be, this is a timely reminder for artists and labels to always ensure that their music is cleared for release in order to avoid legal issues.
