Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, better known as Rude Boy from Psquare, has spoken out on his Instagram story regarding his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The news came as a surprise to many fans, prompting Rude Boy, who recently got married, to clarify the situation.
In a video message, he firmly denied any involvement in fraudulent activities. He assured his fans of his innocence and revealed that the EFCC had cleared him of any charges. However, he remained tight-lipped about the reason for his arrest. The singer also used this opportunity to address speculation about his finances. He stated that his income comes solely from his successful music career.
Rude Boy underlined that his music talent and hard work have been enough to fund his lifestyle. This clarification comes after recent fan discussions about Okoye’s wealth. Just days before his arrest, he reportedly gifted his wife a luxury car exceeding N100 million, which sparked curiosity about his financial sources. It seems this expensive purchase may have triggered the EFCC investigation.
