She was only a Portharcourt-born aspiring singer, but all that changed when she won the Nigerian Idol Season 2 on Sunday, 8th April 2012.
The popular Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress, Mercy Chinwo was born on September 5, 1990, in Portharcourt, Rivers State. Sadly, it was learned that she lost her father at a very tender age.
Mercy released her first single, “Testimony”, in 2015, and “Igwe” a year later. In 2017, Mercy Chinwo signed to Gospel Music Label EeZee Conceptz.
Talent and hard work spoke in favor of Mercy as she landed her first film role in Yvonne Nelson’s film, House of Gold where she acted as Lucia, starring alongside stars like Yvonne Nelson, Majid Michel, and Omawumi amongst others. The movie, House of Gold won Best Picture at the Ghana Movie Awards and Best Ghanaian Movie at the 2013 City People.
Mercy released her debut album, The Cross My gaze in the year 2018, then a 2nd one. Satisfied in 2020. She has about 14 singles to her name.
