Nigerian singer-songwriter, Ahmedu Augustine, better known as Blackface, has alleged that Afrobeats sensation, Asake copied his song without permission.

The former member of the defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz, also accused two of the industry heavyweights, Wizkid and Burna Boy of intellectual property theft.
He made the allegation during a recent interview with Naija FM where he said Asake sampled his song βΛIkebe Supa` on the hit single βΛJoha`.
Blackface said the song was one of the tracks off his 2022 debut album βΛJoha`. He noted that he feels hurt about the constant unauthorized use of his songs by Afrobeats stars. The dancehall star likened the art to his child, saying the unauthorized use of his music is similar to child molestation.
He said;Β βGinger` by Wizkid and Burna Boy is a sample of my track βΛTwist & Turn`; the rhythms, the beat, how the melody starts and ends. Na only the verses dem change. Asake`s βΛJoha` is a sample of my song βΛIkebe Supa.` I dey inspire themβ.
Blackface added that he is not against young artistes sampling his songs, but the fact that they do not approach him before using his songs is wrong.
