Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Yemi Alade addresses a fan who draws comparisons between her and fellow music queen, Tiwa Savage, stating she’s better than her colleague.
It is worth noting that Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage stand out as two of Nigeria’s most prominent female music superstars. Despite their successes, there has been speculation of a rivalry, at least among their fanbases.
Addressing this perception, Yemi Alade seemingly dismissed any notion of a bitter rivalry when she cautioned an enthusiastic fan on platform X (formerly Twitter) against speaking negatively about her Nigerian counterpart.
The incident unfolded when the self-proclaimed Mama Africa, scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, shared a video clip with the caption, “Africa, our time is NOW!!”
In response, a fan with the username @ThatNigerianlad commented on the post with a derogatory remark aimed at Tiwa Savage, stating,
“U better than tiwa.”
Yemi Alade swiftly quashed the X user’s comment, asserting, “Comparison is the thief of Joy. We’re both winning…. celebrate and support us all.”
