Burna Boy’s dance video has stirred up a mix of excitement and controversy with a recent clip from a nightclub in Lagos.
The video, which surfaced online, shows the Grammy-winning artist enjoying a night out at Hot Box nightclub alongside socialite Yhemolee and other guests.
Burna Boy was seen dancing exuberantly to tracks like βHigherβ and βTshwala Bam Remix,β showcasing his signature energy and charisma.
However, it was his interaction with Nigerian currency that has sparked significant debate. In the footage, Burna Boy’s dance was captured stepping on Naira notes, an action that has raised eyebrows given the Central Bank of Nigeriaβs regulations. According to Nigerian law, it is illegal to spray, dance on, or step on Naira notes at any event. This prohibition is in place to maintain the dignity and respect for the countryβs currency. Violations of this law can result in penalties including a fine of 50,000 Naira, imprisonment for at least six months, or both.
The backlash against Burna Boy’s dance has been substantial. Critics have accused him of showing disrespect for the nation’s currency, suggesting that his actions were inconsiderate and contrary to the values associated with the Naira. On the other hand, some supporters have defended him, arguing that his actions were not meant to cause harm and should be seen in the context of the celebratory atmosphere of the event.

In a related news, music executive Paulo Okoye has recently claimed thatΒ Kizz DanielΒ stands as the sole Nigerian artist capable of challenging Grammy winnerΒ Burna Boy. In a discussion with broadcaster Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, Paulo acknowledged Burna Boyβs current dominance in Nigeriaβs music industry but suggested that Kizz Daniel has the potential to compete with him if he continues to develop his career.
Despite comparisons to other top artists like Davido and Wizkid, Paulo Okoye believes Kizz Daniel is uniquely positioned to rival Burna Boy. Reflecting on his past experiences working with Kizz Daniel, Paulo shared,Β βKizz Daniel is the only person that I know that can challenge Burna Boy if he puts himself together. I worked with him two years ago. And I know how much he makes. Kizz Daniel made at least $7.5 million from my side. I donβt even know how much he makes from others.β
Paulo also highlighted Burna Boyβs financial success, noting that he earned approximately $70 million to $80 million in the past year, making him the wealthiest Nigerian artist.
