CERTIFIED EP (Background Story)
Certified EP by Jbwai is a well structured and planned project that was envisioned since before 2 years today. The amount of work and dedication that was put into this project especially as a debut, makes it very special as enough time was taken to write, record and tell a unique story in each song, that will, in one way or the other, relate to our personal experiences in life, or the type of life some of us will like to live.
From “Kalamity” that talks about daily life struggles and eventually success, to “Into You” ft Nigerian Super star girl Waje, that talks about that dream love live that a lot of people wish to be involved in. My inspirations for some of this songs came during some of the lowest points in my life while others were inspired by merely sitting in traffic and thinking how an ordinary road traffic relates to our daily life, which is the case with the first track of the EP, Gbas Gbos a highlife Amapiano style record that will have anyone dancing every time the beat drops. African girl which is the last song of the Ep featuring Cameroon’s most unique female artist Gasha, intentionally glorifies the beauty and warmness of African women.

JBWAI ARTIST BIO
Michael Baiye who is better known by his stage name “Jbwai” is a Cameroonian musician, singer, performer songwriter, record producer, born on September 28th, 1993.in Kumba, a prominent town in the southwest region of English speaking Cameroon, the town is known for his vibrant business and entertainment atmosphere, the town is popularly known in Cameroon as K TOWN.
Jbwai is currently based in Toronto, Canada and made his first venture into music when he was 24. He has since then released several singles and collaborations such as Come Close ft Tropicoboy & Tyke, ONA , HolidaY & Imani and has been part of mega-concerts with top Afrobeats artists from Africa like Kiss Daniel and Davido.
Jbwai had his first African tour in December 2020, starting from Cameroon and extending to other African territories and is currently on his Canadian Tour alongside Cameroon Rapper Ko-C. He has received major media support from very influencial platforms like the Guardian post, Culture Custodian, Pulse Ng, Vanguard news, and many others in various countries around the world.
Jbwai also worked on a collaborative project with Cameroonian most popular rapper Ko-c on Busy Body Remix while also working on another project with Nigerian star girl Waje, in his debut EP title Certified which will be released on the 19th of August 2022. The first single Gbas Gbos out of the said EP was released on Friday May 13th 2022 which received very good feedbacks from A-list Artists like Adekunle Gold with editorial placements on Major Dsp’s like apple Music . His music is influenced by classic Afro-beat vibes, but it also has a more unique feel, embracing a wide range of modern influences, allowing his sound to hit with a mercurial twist.
