The Nigerian music industry has grown rapidly in recent years. It has grown to be a music industry that can stand anywhere in the world and compete with the top industries in the world.
The industry is now being dominated by the young acts, who are making waves everywhere and going from country to country for different shows and tours. Although some of the legends and other people who have been in the industry like D`banj, Rugged man, Eldee, sound sultan, 2face, M I, Wande Coal, P-square, Olu Maintain, Banky w, Sasha, Naeto C and others doing us proud you cant deny the fact that this young lads are killing the industry and making everyone proud and making everyone grove on the dance floor. Below are some of the young people making the industry boom:
Wizkid: Wizkid who is currently signed under Banky w`s EME records became a household name in a few months after he came out with his hit single “Holla At Your Boy” we could not keep wizkid out of our phones, ipods, laptops and other devices he later came up with different songs “DON`T DULL”, “WIZ PARTY`, “TEASE ME” to name a few. Within few months so many people wanted the wonderful voice and that young Talent Wizkid on their songs he did and made so many collabosOmo to shan (Olamide), Good loving (Lynnx) follow me (young 6ix) and so many others. He came out with a great album that is still rocking the nation. Now he is currently moving from country to country doing different shows and collabos and making Nigeria proud. Any show without “Oluwaweezy” is not complete.
David o: David o is a talented musician and producer he has blown the whole country out with two hit singles Back when and DamiDuro which are getting massive air plays on a daily. David o is under his own record label HNK. He is 19 and he is combining his music and his education together. His first single “Back When” which he featured one of Nigerians best rap acts Naeto C got massive air play and the video stayed top of the chart for months, also his song DamiDuro which is getting everyone moving young and old is still rocking charts and the video, also a killer is also sitting on the charts and also getting massive air play and Davido`s fans are increasing daily.
LOS: LOSis a multi-talented Group of singers, songwriters and producers all under the management of Storm Records and Bankhead Entertainment. The group has four members namely Tomi Thomas (Tomi), BolajiLadipo (Yungkwtf), OladeBrisbe (Briss), and Winner Foster (Bridge) and the name LOS means Loud on sound. The group has been growing stronger after they came out with their official single “Magic” which they featured one of Nigeria`s biggest Shank and since then they have been growing and now they have two banging singles “Bad Guy P” and “On Fire” which are getting massive air play. They all have their separate works Bridge has a couple of singles and Briss has a single and they have all been featured on different tracks with different people.
Skales: Skales the EME soldier is one of Banky W`s recruits and he is also a fantastic rapper he has a lot of features and he also has a couple of singles. Skales is multi talented and his hit single “Mukulu” is getting massive airplay and the video was topping the charts for weeks. Skales has worked with different people samklef, Slim t, Wizkid, Mr. Engager, Beazy, J.berg, Bigdeal, LayLow, El Emcee, Suranu, Tony Totch and so many others. Skales is working on his album watch out!!!
Burna Boy: They call him “Burna! Bway!” Whenever that name is heard in Port Harcourt everywhere goes GAGA. DaminiOgulu aka Burna Boy has made him self a fast rising star with two solid mixtapes and four singles which have shaken Nigeria. This days if you are not telling your neighbour “ABEG ABEGABEG” your doing that ”Wombolombo Something “ or in the club“ Touching your Toes” and if your not doing any of the above then your surely blowing your “Trumpet”. Watch out for Port Harcourt`s new first son.
Brymo: OlawaleOlashimi aka Brymo signed to chocolate city and a renowned choc boi is definitely one of our next biggest exports. The king of hooks and mysterious voice behind hit song “Oleku” showed he wasn`t just all about hooks when he released his single “Ara”. Now everyone wants to do a cover to the hit single and with the video of crisp quality already doing well on the charts, Brymo is definitely going to be next in line and go international like his fellow choc bois.
May D: If P-square should quietly snatch your signature then you should know you are a jewel and so is “Mr May d”. Arguably the best vocalist in Nigeria and with hit single Soundtrack and a good video for the song out May D has made it clear that he’s not going anywhere and cemented this further with his follow up single “Ile Ijo”. Indeed May D is a sure boy and a successful album is expected soon.
Chidinma: Project fame winner and sexy diva Chidinma has arrived and definitely for good. Just 21 years of age her amazing vocals endeared the public to her first single Jankoliko, which featured Sound sultan and that wasn`t just all. She followed up with Kedike, which is also a radio friendly jam and good videos for both singles already on your television screens, what makes you think the females aren`t ready to break in to the market and break in big. Go girl this is your year!
Olamide: “Holla baby its Ola baby!” This coded tunes dude isn`t going back any bit. After successfully releasing his debut album Rhapsody last year, one would have thought the confirmed “Yahoo Boy No Laptop” would have slowed down but not at all. He quickly came up with Ile ifo Illuminati which is loved by the streets and quickly followed that up with Unite featuring H-code. Definitely Olamide is here to stay. All I will say is “Na 14 years if Fashola catch you”
