Ghana’s hip life music sensation are a tripartite crew – V.I.P, comprising members Promzy (Emmanuel Promzy Ababio), Prodigal (Joseph Nana Ofori), and Lazzy (Abdul Hamid Ibrahim) from a ghetto suburb in Accra called Nima.
Today’s throwback features Ahomka Womu otherwise titled as Gehu from their 2003 album similarly titled Ahomka Womu, which dominated music charts on the African scene. Gehu was number one on the Ghanaian charts for over 20 weeks. The hit single saw them smile home with five awards at the Ghana Music Awards and since then, the group have experienced international exposure – recording bigger successes – including a worldwide tour as well as attaining rep for being one of Ghana’s most famous artistes.
