Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, has spoken out against those trying to profit from his son’s untimely death.
On September 11, 2024, after a court hearing regarding Mohbad’s passing, Mohbad’s father shared his frustration with reporters, expressing his anger at how people are using his son’s memory for financial gain. In a video, he referenced the upcoming one-year memorial for Mohbad, who tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, at just 27 years old. Mohbad’s father expressed his deep sorrow, revealing that he still cries whenever he hears his son’s songs.
Mohbad’s father strongly condemned those attempting to make money from the first anniversary of his son’s death. He expressed his outrage towards anyone who he believes is exploiting this painful time, insisting that such people and their families would suffer greatly. He emphasized that this moment should be focused on remembrance and the pursuit of justice, not on profit.
He said:
“I talked about Mohbad’s first death anniversary and how it’s in two categories. Some people want to use the death of a 26-year-old to make money. When I pass and his song is playing, I shed tears. So if somebody has decided that his death anniversary is an opportunity for them to make money, they and their family will suffer from leprosy. This is the time to remember that it has been one year, and we still haven’t gotten justice.”
Mohbad’s father continues to call for justice, urging people to honor his son’s memory appropriately and not see the anniversary as a chance to profit.
