Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, has spoken out against those trying to profit from his son’s untimely death.

On September 11, 2024, after a court hearing regarding Mohbad’s passing, Mohbad’s father shared his frustration with reporters, expressing his anger at how people are using his son’s memory for financial gain. In a video, he referenced the upcoming one-year memorial for Mohbad, who tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, at just 27 years old. Mohbad’s father expressed his deep sorrow, revealing that he still cries whenever he hears his son’s songs.

Mohbad’s father strongly condemned those attempting to make money from the first anniversary of his son’s death. He expressed his outrage towards anyone who he believes is exploiting this painful time, insisting that such people and their families would suffer greatly. He emphasized that this moment should be focused on remembrance and the pursuit of justice, not on profit.

He said:

“I talked about Mohbad’s first death anniversary and how it’s in two categories. Some people want to use the death of a 26-year-old to make money. When I pass and his song is playing, I shed tears. So if somebody has decided that his death anniversary is an opportunity for them to make money, they and their family will suffer from leprosy. This is the time to remember that it has been one year, and we still haven’t gotten justice.”

Mohbad’s father continues to call for justice, urging people to honor his son’s memory appropriately and not see the anniversary as a chance to profit.

Meanwhile, popular skit maker Cute Abiola honored Mohbad’s One-Year Anniversary with a touching tribute, emphasizing that the late Nigerian singer’s legacy still lives on.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and despite an autopsy, a police investigation, and numerous court hearings, the true cause of his death remained unknown. As today marked Mohbad’s One-Year Anniversary, notable figures from the Nigerian entertainment industry flooded social media with memories and tributes to the late singer. Cute Abiola, in particular, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post in honor of Mohbad’s One-Year Anniversary, reflecting on the impact Mohbad had on his fans and the music industry.

Accompanying his tribute, Cute Abiola posted a video of Mohbad at a church, where the late singer expressed his gratitude to God while reflecting on his own life. The emotional caption read, “A year ago, rest on, legend” capturing the essence of Mohbad’s One-Year Anniversary and the enduring love his fans and peers held for him.

The late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, had many dreams throughout his life, some of which he shared through his prayers. Before his passing, Mohbad had openly expressed his struggles through various videos, revealing that he was bullied by his former record label boss, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley. He also discussed personal difficulties within his family and how music served as a coping mechanism.

In his song “Peace,” Mohbad spoke about overcoming numerous challenges and dealing with fake friends, yet he found solace. As Mohbad’s old tweet comes back into the public eye, some fans have suggested that the late artist should be allowed to rest in peace. The resurfacing of Mohbad’s old tweet adds to the ongoing drama and controversy surrounding his death and the conflicts within his family.
