Banky W, a Nigerian musician, actor, politician, minister, and businessman, is not only a proud father to a young son but also the husband of the equally famous Adesua Etomi. In a recent interview with Hawa Magaji on the Whoβs In My Houseβ talk show, Banky W candidly discussed the challenges of fatherhood, particularly balancing it with his busy schedule and being over 40 years old.
Banky W said:
I do a lot of things: Iβm a business man, I have a few companies Iβve invested in, that I work in and work for, Iβm in ministry, Iβm a husband, Iβm in society, Iβm always doing one thing or the other. So it means my days are pretty busy.
Prior to having a child, when you come home, youβre just going to sit down, take your shoes off, hang out with madam, relax, and have a good time. But now, immediately I walk in the door, itβs almost like my son has seen his favorite superhero and he immediately wants me to play with him.
He doesnβt care that Iβm 40+ and that Iβve been working on my feet all day, and Iβve been in traffic, and Iβve been in meetings. Heβs just like βpapa, come and playβ and thatβs all he cares about in that moment in time. He wants me to chase him around the room, or play ball, or something. And that can be pretty exhausting.β
Banky W also added that as exhausting as it is, he would not have it another way because he also enjoys being around his son. In his words:
βWe prayed for a strong willed child, so when God now answers, its yβknow. And no matter how tired you are, you have to play.
But again, there is joy in it right? Because regardless of how tired I feel, thereβs actually nothing Iβd rather do at that point in my day than roll around in the carpet with my boy.β
