Olamide Adedeji, better known as Olamide Baddo, stands out as a leading figure in Nigeria’s hip-hop scene, celebrated for his significant contributions as a rapper, singer, and record label founder. His newest project, titled Ikigai, has garnered impressive success. Among the standout tracks are “Hello Habibi” and “Metaverse.”
In a recent interview, Olamide discussed his new album and the motivation behind it, following a nearly four-year hiatus from music. His previous album, Carpe Diem, was released in 2020.
During his conversation with TooXclusive, Olamide revealed that he almost left his music career to focus solely on songwriting. Despite this contemplation, he ultimately decided he couldn’t stop making music, feeling that his life would be incomplete without it.
Olamide also shared the inspiration behind the title Ikigai, a Japanese term meaning “a reason for being,” which reflects his renewed sense of purpose in his music career.
