Nigerian musician Naira Marley has experienced a sudden increase in his social media fanbase, as he regains 100,000 fans after losing followers.
This is in response to last year’s dramatic loss of over 500,000 followers amid controversy and public criticism after the death of singer, Mohbad.
The unfortunate passing of Mohbad set off the turbulent events of the previous year and resulted in a barrage of criticism aimed against Naira Marley and his assistant, Sam Larry.
Social media users voiced their complaints and accused the musician and his crew of being part of the regrettable event.
Following Mohbad’s passing, a substantial portion of Naira Marley’s fan base and followers cut ties with him by going on a major unfollowing binge.
The artist’s controversy was intensified when implicating videos surfaced, exacerbating the situation.
Furthermore, a number of music outlets, including MTVBase and Soundcity, openly announced that they were no longer associated with Naira Marley’s music.
