Olamide’s “Ikigai” has set a new record on Spotify by having the biggest opening week streams. “Ikigai” garnered 7.92 million streams in its opening week placing it ahead of Shallipopi’s “Shakespopi” which amassed 5.7 million streams. The project also becomes Olamide’s first biggest opening week stream on Spotify Nigeria surpassing the 5.8 million streams of his 2023 album ‘Unruly’.
Recall that “Ikigai” garnered 1.86 million streams in its opening 24 hours setting the record for most opening day streams by a project on Spotify Nigeria in 2024. All these milestones place Olamide as one of the most successful rappers in Africa. On the 7-track project, Olamide features Asake, Fireboy DML, Lil Kesh, Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Sabri.
