Rick Ross, the American rapper and record executive, is facing a lawsuit filed by Darris Straughter, a disabled man who alleges that Ross’s Car & Bike Show lacked wheelchair accessibility. Straughter, who has been disabled since 2018, claims he was unable to attend the event despite notifying organizers of his needs two weeks in advance and purchasing a ticket. He asserts that while the organizers had promised refunds for attendees who could not access the event, this promise was not honored.
Straughter is seeking damages and a court order requiring future events to comply with disability access standards.
The lawsuit, brought by attorney John Hoover Esq., accuses Rick Ross of breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
