Veteran artiste, Zaaki Azzay, has charged young Nigerian acts to be original.
Zaaki, who described the Nigerian music industry as a war front advised artistes to learn to be original and stop copying.
In his words:
“I`m able to evolve like this because I`ve often said that Mercedes is Mercedes. Mercedes is Mercedes 40-years ago, it`s still the same today. It`s the same with music, you should improve on your brand, improve on your songs, you must not start sounding like another artiste because he is reigning. You can`t all be like Wizkid, Davido or P`Square because they are on top now, just improve your brand. It`s like a war front, you have to retreat and plan; you don`t just go out, everyday you set out, if you are a proper person, you will set out where you are going to, you have meetings, appointments, you have to strategize, things have changed.”
