Nigerian Afrobeat artist Anthony Victor, better known as Victony, has responded to recent criticism of his debut album, “Stubborn”. The album has been scrutinized on social media, with some suggesting its commercial performance lagged due to a lack of “haters” to create buzz through negative commentary.
In a reaction to these claims, Victony took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to dismiss the suggestion as “dumb.” He expressed frustration over the unrealistic expectations placed on his career and emphasized that he is not rushing to achieve the same level of success as his peers, Rema and Asake.
Victony’s statement read:
“Lmao, Victony need more haters gotta be the dumbest shit I seen cos what’s the rush? Everyone wanna be Rema and Asake in 2 hours?”
