Amapiano Duo Jazzworx & G.L. Ceejay Survive Traumatic Abduction

Popular Amapiano artists Jazzworx (real name Kamohelo Monese) and his collaborator Gobokweone Lekganyane, known professionally as G.L. Ceejay, are recovering after surviving a traumatic kidnapping that has rocked the South African music community.

The Uzizwa Kanjani hitmakers were abducted during a violent home invasion on Sunday at their residence in Klippoortjie, Germiston. Their manager, Sandile Moloane, confirmed the incident, revealing that the attackers were primarily after the duo’s music equipment and digital work.

“They were kidnapped, and the people who kidnapped them took them and our studio equipment. They intentionally made it clear that they wanted the studio and what was in the computer,” Moloane stated.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, a case of house robbery has been opened. “No arrests have been made yet; police are still searching for the suspects,” he confirmed.

Thankfully, the artists were found alive early Monday morning in an abandoned house in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg. Both had sustained minor head injuries but were reportedly in stable condition and grateful to have made it out safely.

In a heartfelt public statement, the duo expressed gratitude to fans for their support and prayers:

“We are currently receiving medical attention and support as we begin the process of healing physically, emotionally, and psychologically. We ask for privacy and understanding as we focus on recovery and rebuilding our strength.”

They also commended the swift efforts of law enforcement and confirmed that an image of one of the suspects would be made public as the investigation continues.

Despite the terrifying ordeal, Jazzworx and G.L. Ceejay are not stepping back from music. Their upcoming album, The Most Wanted, remains on track for release this September — a testament to their resilience and dedication to their craft.
